Nowhere Boy (2009)

The film 'Nowhere Boy' has different methods of marketing, these are film posters, film trailers and interviews. One of these methods of marketing is to the right. This film poster shows the main character, yet this character (Aaron Johnson) hasn't made a huge breakthrough on the big screen. We know this as we haven't really heard of him and he hasn't made it into any huge hits in the cinema. This film poster can be marketed by saying 'The extraordinary untold story of John Lennon'. This can market the film as John Lennon was in a fantastic musician in the 1960's. Ever since most people have heard of John Lennon as he also tried to bring peace to the world with his wife. So this could be seen as a way of marketing as they have put his name at the top of the film poster. The poster has the other two main characters on it with Aaron Thompson. Anne-Marie Duff is a actress that some may have heard of as she has done show films but mainly done acting in TV shows such as 'Shameless'. The last main character is Kristin Scott Thomas and she has been in the most films out of the three named on the poster and she has also done a fair bit in theatre. Showing all the actors on the posters is a big method of marketing as the target audience maybe watching this film due the actors not the producers etc.

These are both the movie trailers for the film 'Nowhere Boy'. They are different as they show different parts of the film in the trailers and also the main different is that John Lennon narrates the trailer in the second one, this is a method of marketing as they have already said that this is the 'untold story of John Lennon', this has now been mentioned on all posters and trailers as this is a selling point of the film. Also at the end of the trailers it says it is funded by the national lottery and film 4 productions, this is a form of marketing as we know that the smallish budget film 'Slumdog Millionaire' was produced and funded by the national lottery and film 4, 'Slumdog millionarie' made millions of pounds on a small budget, so showing this the audience can get the image it may be another British film 4 hit. Both the posters and trailers market the film very well to its audience as we get the genre from the film so this will straight away pick out it's target audience, I believe the target audience is music lovers, people who love watching British films and people who are interested by the story of the Beatles legend John Lennon. My opinion is that these two methods of marketing reaches out to the target audience very well by showing the various selling points of the film.

This is OK but fairly descriptive. You do mention genre but don't mention which genre it is!
